Black Coffee is one of my favorite albums of all time. There’s a wide range of fantastic, knee-slapping songs that get me feeling like dancing every time I hear them. So while the rhythms get me moving like a double espresso, the lyrics are fine storytelling that take me into towns and places like a country sightseeing tour led by an insider who knows the lay of the land like the back of his hand. GRT’s singer-songwriter skillset comes to life in a rare richness of rhythmic-melodious blending with a moving body of lyrics that makes Black Coffee a brilliant work.
